If GSP perfected the overhand right like he perfected the Superman punch the last few fights of his career would have went very different.
Dude was winging that right hand a lot.
Superman was all the rage, but then it died out with GSP’s retirement. Sometimes you think something new has been popularized and permanently added to the sport, but then it turns out almost nobody actually worked it out. GSP was obviously numero uno. I remember Josh Thomson being slick with it too, including putting takedowns into it.
I always wondered why nobody else in mma uses this technique when it worked so well for GSP throughout his career.
That was cool as fuck
It works well cos GSP used the lead leg kick, lead high kick (earlier in his career) and the jab obviously. Love his superman jab to rear leg kick, just flows so well especially the one he got Alves with
Always loved the superman punch, it looks like it shouldn’t work but it does. GSP even got hockey players doing it. Kevin Bieksa had a ton of knockdowns with it in hockey fights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbv2aqFkiyY&ab_channel=BeerLeagueHeroes
Now we just wait for me to see red
