  1. Those frames to create space up close and sneak uppercuts in are some shit we never really saw much from him but makes sense that it would do a lot of good in a boxing fight

  2. That tasty uppercut at 1:20 and then at 1:23 the opponents coach tells him to do something and he respond “I’m trying coach!”.

This was 13 years ago and Anderson was 34… This was the same year he put on a clinic against Forrest Griffin.

  3. People also forget there was a time when boxing and MMA were kept pretty separate. So seeing a high level MMA fighter sparring a boxer was really rare to see.

The clip isn’t showing off Silva being super dominant, it was more entertainment and saying that there are MMA fighters who can box, which again you had a hard time finding any footage of before this

  4. Silva has always taken his boxing seriously and worked in gyms where he’s getting traditional training. The Paul fight is only a factor in age and that’s why I hate it. Fights made where someone is clearly that much of a bitch don’t interest me at all. I’ll either see a highlight of Silva winning on YouTube or nothing from that fight.

  5. Taping directly on the skin instead of gauze or just using a handwrap seems really odd. I pretty much live at my gym and have never seen anyone do that.

  6. Those shots the boxer was throwing at the 00:46 mark seemed pretty hard for a spar, right? Anderson’s shots were way lighter than what the other guy was going with at least to my untrained eye.

  7. I just have a bad feeling. MMA gods just have made me lose hope. It is like game of thrones. I can see Anderson winning most of the fight with Jake Paul and then some random haymaker from Jake lands and knocks Silva out cold. Jake and his entourage then start claiming how he beat all of the MMA champs. Uhg.. please Silva win and win well please.

  8. The fact he was 34 here, in 2009, is just a cruel reminder that he’s gonna “lose” the boxing match to that little rat Jake Paul.. I hope it’s because he wants the extra money, not because he needs it. Anderson in his prime would demolish him, but at 47 years of age, I fear we’re a bit delusional to expect him to beat a 25 year old “youtuber” who’s at this point been boxing for 5+ years. Hope I’m wrong though..

  9. In fairness just because he’s a professional boxer doesn’t mean much. A lot of amateur boxers move better than this.

Look at Loma vs Tj in sparring, Loma kept upping the levels and it was noticeable. Don’t doubt for a second if Silva committed to boxing rather than MMA he would have gone far.

  10. It’s crazy to think that as brilliant an MMA fighter that Anderson was, he might have been an even better boxer had he only trained that. He has insane natural boxing talent for sure

  11. Boxers just don’t realize how dangerous mma fighters are because they always fight mma fighters in a boxing format-Jake Paul, Mayweather, etc… all it would take is a takedown, a head kick, a couple calf kicks, or an easy scramble into a submission and they are toast. Woodley, Conor, Francis possibly against fury and now Silva would starch any boxer quick. It’s quite humorous for a boxer like Floyd to act all bad in front of the camera but deep down they know they ain’t shit when it comes to true “fighting”

  12. I never saw these type of helmets when i boxed back when I was younger. The face protection looks really good but isn’t the jaw really exposed? It looks to me like an uppercut can really connect with the jaw, am I wrong?

Anyone that can explain how they work?

    Edit: I specifically meant chin.

  13. Guys… I would not put too much stock in this footage. Roach doesn’t have a reputation for gym wars, I’m sure that they both have specific instructions for things they are supposed to work on, not take each other’s heads off, etc. we also don’t know how many rounds in they are.

Anderson training boxing only this far back makes me hopeful and I want him to crush JP but this isn’t the footage that gets me to lay money down
