  6. Just do a number one contender fight and actually go through with it. The interims arent even titles its just the UFCs way of honoring a title shot. Theres been so many lately they dont hold any weight anymore. I had to think back if Gane *got one when he fought lewis, I dont think of Gane as a champ, but yeah he did.

  7. I don’t see a reason why it should be interim instead of just a regular no. 1 contender fight but if Volks okay with it, then oh well.

  8. Imo he’s earned that right, he’s cleared out the division and there isn’t really a clear #1. With a really impressive win maybe that could have been Yair but that didn’t go as planned, and I’m a fan of Emmett but he’s Imo still at least 1 fight away. Let Yair and Emmett fight while Volk gets the LW shot, the he can fight the winner

  10. Does this mean Charles vs Islam isn’t locked in yet? Or that Volk is thinking of using the extra 3 months(on top of the usual 3 months before a fight) to build up for the weight class?

    Here is my issue. Nothing lines up for this to happen. Volk just fought. Yair and Josh just fought. And Islam and Charles are fighting in October which is a long ways out.

    So if Yair and Josh fight for an interim belt, that could honestly happen in Oct/Nov… Then what? The winner of that waits for Volk to fight for LW belt in maybe March next year, then fight him in July?

    All of the top FW’s fighting at the same time honestly kind of screws it all up. I get that Emmett’s performance wasn’t dominating, and Yair’s was a weird finish (but I’m calling it a finish). So it’s hard to say one of them deserves it over the other, but both are deserving. So it might be hard to pick between them. But I think he has time for another defense rather than putting the belt on wait for possibly a year.

  14. I love Volk advocating what anyone with half a brain could see is the correct sequence of events is headline news. Yes, of course he should go to 155, and of course Rodriguez should fight Emmett.

  15. Makes sense. Rodriguez/ Emmett haven’t solidified themselves as the next contender so let them duke it out. No clear challenger for Oliveira/ Makhachev winner either. There can be no better time for this.

  18. Honestly it shouldn’t be for interim. Neither have really earned a title shot and volko is still clearly going to defend the FW belt after he fight for LW. Yair and emmet should fight for the #1 contender spot. Conor was the FW champ for a year despite fight Diaz twice at WW and then Eddie at LW

  19. This doesn’t deserve an interim belt. Neither have undisputed cases and Alex has been active. This number one contender ship marketing scheme is so dumb even if it puts more money in the fighters pockets.

  25. I feel like there’s so many contenders at 155, that throwing Alex into the mix would just cause a log jam, especially because it would be just to see him lose. He loses to everyone in the top 7. I know he deserves a title shot considering how dominant he’s been at 145, but his height and lack of reach would not translate well to 155.

  26. Honestly, this double champ shit sucks. I love Volkanovski but I hope he gets Holloway’d. He’s not even that popular like McGregor, Coutoure or Jones and I doubt the majority of people who buy PPV (casuals) care about him that much. Speaking with no evidence, I say Charles is arguably more popular (read more exciting to watch for the regular viewer) than him. Fuck, he doesn’t even has 1 million followers on Instagram.

    Downvote me all you want, but it’s the truth. The Lightweight division is fantastic and there’s no need for that. I don’t think it makes any sense

  27. Seems prettt stupid the fight is not until October he can prob rack up another defense with a month of the lw tight fight and then he would have a good chance but sitting out for 4-6+ is a massive L imo

  32. I don’t mind interim title fights , all it means is both guys get paid much better than they would without a belt. Sucks for Allen though not sure who he fights next if Max leaves 145 like he should. Maybe Kattar.
