Who’s Valentin Benishev? On Tapology, there are a couple of guys with information like this. Benishev is 18-0, been combating 10 years in small promotions. His opponents are largely actual fighters who combat everywhere in the world, not nice however not complete cans. Is he actually good? If not, who’s paying for him? Why?

  1. Look up Jason Reinhardt. The dude was 18-0 in local Illinois/Iowa shows and fought Lauzon in the UFC and got handled in like a minute. I believe he had a few more losses in the UFC as well

  2. Boxing heavyweights used to do this all the time… get a ton of wins against suspect competition and then cash in with a big fight.

Peter McNeely famously did this and got TRASHED by Mike Tyson once upon a time.

  3. He’s probably got ties to a certain promoter. In this case whoever puts on “Twins MMA” where he has most of his fights and it’s part of a play to get him into a bigger show.

I’ve never seen him fight but he’s probably not very good.

  4. I’m not gonna say too much because most people could probably guess who he is, but an old classmate / wrestling partner of mine has an amazing record, in his early-mid 20s, absolutely crushing and mud stomping dudes, and has not taken that “next big step” despite it being available and promoters shooting him offers.

No clue what it is, no clue how he affords his lifestyle either but I guess there’s a way sometimes. It’s not like he’s accomplishing small feats, but he constantly gets criticized for being a big fish small pond because people always think he can do more. As I understand it he has had Bellator and ONE FC offers since his second Ammy bout quite some time ago, yet here we are and he hasn’t made that leap yet.

  5. They might be paying dudes to lose to him or having corrupt refs. I remember when I was in Bulgaria this HW with an interesting story (sort of he was a mob enforcer of course they called him The Hammer…) fought Wes Simms. Dude gassed and Sims CLEARLY let him take him down and leglock him with a shitty kneebar iirc.

EDIT: It was a heelhook and the guys name was Lyubomir Simeonov. Wikipedia even said Simeonov was given more than the allowed time to recover on the stool in between rounds 1 & 2 which I do recall vaguely.

  6. The ufc certainly isn’t the end all be all of fighting talent. I don’t know who he is but I’m sure if his opponents are how you’ve described he’s probably the real deal.

  7. Padded record. I remember when i saw a commercial for a championship boxing fight when i was younger. No clue who was fighting but someone was 25-0 and other guy was like 24-0. I was shocked there were 2 undefeated guys fighting fighting for a belt, how have i not heard of these guys? Why isnt it a big deal those records seem crazy to me. I learned later about how boxing operates and most guys have padded records. Happens in mma too

  8. During TUF undefeated there was like undefeated puerto rican? Who was 13-0 and he got absolutely destroyed by the guy with that creepy moustache from Stipe’s gym.

  9. HA you only find this fascinating because you probably don’t follow boxing. Hella dudes like this. They don’t have to be cans, if you can grab an opportune neck you can get to a .667 win percentage on the regional scene, but you’ll also get worked by the first brother that can mix the martial arts
