  1. Isn’t taking lower ranked opponents that are massive draws resulting in you likely making more money and building your profile not the dream MMA scenario?

  2. Ahh yes.. Fighting these lower ranked guys, as opposed to fighting other WW around the same rank as yourself. I think WonderBoy originally wanted to fight Leon instead of Gilbert. Would’ve made for a much better fight, and it honestly the winner between the two might’ve gotten a title shot. I know there was a lot of hype around WB for a title shot if he beat Gilbert. I’m sure the narrative would’ve held if it was against Leon and vice versa. BTW I personally think WB took the risk fighting against actual contenders such as Geoff Neal and Vicente Luque. Edward’s last 3 opponents were Nate, RDA, and Gunnar lol excluding Belal.

  3. Leon needs to accept who he is. When you’re not a talkative, big mouthed guy, you have to shut people up with your actions. When you’re clearly a class ahead of somebody, you have to put them away.. That Diaz fight shouldn’t have even had a 5th round, it should’ve been long done before that.

You either take risks with your mouth, or with your actions, you can’t not take risks with neither and expect people to be excited about you, and that includes the people trying to sell his fights.

  4. He’s delusional. He had to get completely taken out the rankings before he accepted the khamzat fight. And Diaz and Masvidal are two of the biggest names in the sports and “money fights” for leon. Hilarious that he’s acting like he’s the one doing people favors.

  5. Instead of fighting a guy who is also ranked, i’m gonna fight guys who are like 7-7 and 12-7 in the ufc. Why? Because i’m a risk taker! Wanna see an even bigger risk!? I’m going just for points! No finishes over here! No sir!

  6. Anyone would take the Masvidal and Diaz fights, they’re 2 of the biggest money fights in the company right now, and Nate is a washed LW. Masvidal is a WW the same way Gastelum is a MW. And they removed him from the rankings for inactivity before he accepted a fight with Khamzat.

Every so often Leon comes out and pretends he has this “anyone any where” mindset while it seems the exact opposite is true.

  7. This is some real mental gymnastics. The UFC are trying to build Leon up by giving him fights against popular fighters like Diaz, Masvidal and hype trains like Khamzat.

The problem is Leons low output, point fighting, decisionator style will never be entertaining to a lot of fans.

But of course Leon is gonna play the victim and act like he’s the only one taking fights.

Heres the facts: when Masvidal was highly ranked he fought down in the rankings twice in a row with undefeated Askren at rank 5 and Diaz at rank 7.

And Gilbert has been calling out and wanting to step in to tons of fights.

Cut the bullshit Leon, you arent the only one.

  8. Its crazy that Burns is calling out Leon when it’s literally documented and clear for everyone to see with a 5 second Google search that when the roles were reversed Burns didn’t take the Leon fight and waited for his title shot.

  9. Leon acting like he didn’t sit on the bench for two years and refuse the fight against Khamzat until the ufc threatened to remove him from the ranking for inactivity. Not a great way to get a title shot.

People don’t respect fighters who cry and sit on the bench rather than remain active. Sure he has a win streak going, but he fucked that up by sitting on the bench for two years. Now he has to reestablish himself in the current division by beating some relevant fighters.

Granted Colby pulled this same shit and it worked out for him, but Colby also had an amazing fight against Usman and ppl want to see it again.
