Misplaced my first newbie mma combat by tko, sort of consuming me up.

Hey guys, so i competed in my very first MMA newbie competitors, after being in a program for 20 weeks which takes you from no information of preventing to getting you ready to combat your first one.

We had good backwards and forwards, i hit him, he hit me, however I misplaced the combat as my opponent obtained a superb straight proper that flash koed me within the 2 minutes within the first spherical, i obtained straight again up however the ref had known as it.

It is 2 days after now, and that i watched the footage again, initially i believed i did good, and was proud that somebody who by no means has even thrown a punch earlier than was in a position to step contained in the octagon, however proper now im feeling fairly down, i watch it and simply see errors i made that price me the combat, all of the adrenaline and nerves obtained to me when i used to be in there, i utterly forgot my gameplan and that i really feel like such a idiot.

my buddies, household and coaches all stated it was very entertaining and that we each carried out rather well. however i cant shake the sensation of feeling like a failure.

How did any of you guys that competed cope with the loss?

  1. Are you planning on being an mma fighter or was this a once off.

You deal with the loss by getting in the gym and training. Talk with your coach and address your weaknesses. Whenever you’re training and you’re feeling tired or not wanting to keep going remind yourself of what you’re feeling right now and train harder.

  2. A certain LHW champion was 2-4 at the beginning of his UFC career. RDA lost his first ever fight and his first two fights in the ufc. Jacare lost his first. Losing doesn’t mean anything as long as you learn from it.

Takes a lot of guts to even step into the cage and you should feel proud of that.

You’ve completed a huge goal that some others only dream of and now you have the chance to accomplish even more if you’d like by learning and growing from the experience!

Well done man. I’ve never fought but I’d love to do a program like the one you participated in. How did the flash KO feel? I hard sparred one time and the adrenaline masked all the pain which surprised me.. until the next day lmao.

  3. Hey, Amanda lost her first professional fight and look at her now… probably going to face Cindy Dandois for the undisputed Women’s GOAT.

  4. Lmao losing your first ammy fight doesn’t make you a failure. It doesn’t even eliminate you from being an undefeated fighter in the future.

No one gives a shit about your ammy career when you go pro and no one cares about your ammy career if you never become anything. You could still become an undefeated UFC champ some day and if you never fight again you still had the courage to do something most people wouldn’t do.

You completely skimmed past the part that you need to be focusing on. You said you can see the mistakes you made and the things you need to work on. There’s a bunch of people who are really good at what they do, in all sorts of careers, who are complete shit at self reflection. People who would have the same knowledge you have and see the same tape and they wouldn’t see anything wrong.

So you lost your first ammy fight, who cares? Take those things you saw that you can improve on and get better. If you can take lessons from fights, apply that in training, and show improvements in the future, that already makes you a better fighter than a whole fuck load of people who won all their ammy fights.

  5. Literally every person that’s been in a competitive fight has made mistakes, sometimes it costs you the fight, sometimes it doesn’t. The most important thing more than winning or losing, is making sure you learn from your mistakes. Losing sucks and it can be discouraging, I lost my first 2 fights when I started competing and almost stopped competing after the second loss. I was lucky to have a great coach and training partners that kept me going, then I won my next 6 fights. Losing is part of the learning process to get better my dude, don’t be upset about it, treat it as an opportunity to improve.

  6. I’m not trying to be offensive when I say this, and I also don’t know exactly how frequently you train, but 20 weeks is nothing. I’ve been doing BJJ for a decade now and still get whooped by some people. After 20 weeks there’s very little chance of being actually “good”.

  7. Its gonna hurt for a while. You’re gonna be trying to sleep some nights and think you’re worthless.

But you have to understand what it is, a lesson. Get your arse back in the gym and work on your shit. You got KOd in the first round so you pretty much can only go up from here.

  8. Bro, you got in a fucking cage and fought another motherfucker. You’re already way more badass than 99% of the people around you. Stop beating yourself up more than your opponent did.

“The man who never falls down, never learns how to pick himself back up.”

  9. The most significant dividing line in anything is the line between those who did and those who didn’t. For the rest of your life, you can legitimately say shit like “Back when I was a cage fighter…” and that’s cool as hell. Respect to you, dude.

  10. Hey man losing is part of the game. Last year i went 2-15 in wrestling. Losing happens but you’ve got two options. Grow and learn or let it beat you. There’s no shame in loosing you got this man keep your head up. Also i don’t know if you sparred at all, that would definitely help you get used to fighting and keeping your cool. Champ shit only!

  11. Thanks all for the responses, I understand and will continue to look forward and improve on my weaknesses, I guess I just needed that bit of support to help me through a down moment.

  12. If it’s eating you up then it’s because you want to improve and thought you could have done better. You learn from experiences and failure is the best teacher. It’s still early days so you’ll get over it in a week or two, don’t beat yourself up too much.

  13. Dude youve got more minerals than 99% of the people who watch MMA to actually step up and get in the cage.

I think that if this is your career path then to go back to the gym and understand your mistakes that lead to that situation and work, work, and more work. A loss in MMA isnt like a loss in boxing.

If its not what you want to do as a career honestly dont worry.

  14. Bro it’s the amateurs. You are literally supposed to lose a bunch. Fighters who care about their amateur records are doing themselves a disservice. It’s a time to learn through trial and error. Virtually every great fighter lost in the amateurs and no one has held it against them.

Also you trained for barely 6 months. I, and many others I know. had my first amateur MMA fight after 3+ years. Chill out and if you like it go back to training.

  15. If it makes you feel any better, I’ve been training in grappling and boxing since I was 19 (now 29), and the thought of stepping in a cage and having a prize fight literally makes me anxious just thinking about it. You’ve done what 99% of trained martial artists would never do, and for that you deserve respect, you probably have balls like a gorilla.

  16. Bro you’re not going to go in there and flow like Anderson off the bat, there’s so much adrenaline and nerves and you haven’t really developed a fight brain yet so you probably resorted to what you drilled the most.

Everyone gets caught and hurt wether it’s training or practice, you can watch the video and see what you’re lacking and try to work on that and just know that next time you go you’ll be just a bit more calm and aware congratulations man

  17. By proud u stepped up. Learn from what u could do better and improve. Just a new day in the gym. Amateur is for learning. Its not a small step to step into the cage.

  18. You should be proud that you had the balls to even step in there and fight! But 90% of the time there is a winner and there is a loser, just wasn’t your day but use it as motivation and remember your have more balls and skills then 90% of the population
