  1. Looking through his IG there’s no indication he was sick. Unless it was something that came on extremely quickly. If this is real it’s incredibly sad to see someone so young pass

  2. Posted this before but want to share here.

Seems unreal. 34 years old. I met him several times in Montreal and he was the coolest guy. Super chill and humble. Funny as hell too . he even remembered my friends and I cause we were running into him so often at local events in the summers. Was super fun to party with . Caught a lot of flack cause of his style but had a pretty good run in the UFC. Really believe he should have still been in the top promotion based off his abilities too. Very shocking and saddening news. RIP

  3. Man, I really hate to hear that. I was honestly hoping he’d make it back to the ufc one day. If it works it works, and he had close fights with Thiago santos and Derek Brunson both. RIP

  4. Elias was not just an controversial but entertaining fighter but he was the first fighter to act as Ring Boy in a major org:

and not only that, the man was a big activist for the use of Cannabis as a recovery mechanism, so much he was able to change the rules!:

and all around just a very nice man:

He might not have reached the top of the sport but goddamn did he leave an impression on it.

  5. Story about Elias:

I messaged him on Insta as a photographer/videographer because I noticed him reposting and promoting a photo I took for Coors beer. He messages me back and tells me he’ll fly me out to the first MMA event back in Canada since COVID and made me one of the octagon camera operators, he won his fight too. Fucking stand up guy. RIP!

  6. I know it’s probably not fair to speculate, but I wonder if his #plantsnotpills philosophy caused some issues with his treatment. Considering he still seemed to have a full head of hair too. Alternative methods are always worth looking into, but when it comes to cancer unfortunately it seems there are only a couple strategies that will give you a real shot. Steve Jobs, Bob Marley, lots of big names have died partially because they refused traditional treatments. Hope that wasn’t the case here.

  7. Dude had stage 4 liver cancer that he hid from all but his closest family and friends. What a fucking warrior. RIP to the greatest mane to ever set food in the octagon.

  8. Wow fuck cancer. A while back he ran a giveaway for a marijuana vaporizer on Instagram and I swear he responded to every single message and put them all on his story. Seemed like a really genuine and nice guy

  9. damn that’s horrible to hear he always came across as a super chill dude who imo was unlucky to get cut from the UFC when he did, damnnnnn this sucks 🙁

RIP to him and prayers to his family and friends what a horror

  10. Had an acquaintance of mine who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Bright personality, brilliant medical career, beautiful girlfriend… he had il all. When he got the diagnosis, they even had the wedding arranged. Couldn’t make it, within weeks he was gone. He was 34.

It made me take a good look at myself. I have everything and i’m always bitching and complaining.

  11. The news must have just broke? there’s nothing on any media except this tweet, if this is true, this is heartbreaking, he had an interesting style of fighting with his wild kicks/swings…. man..as a Canadian I hope this is not true.. 🙁

  12. All ya’ll haters who shat on him for his cannabis reform, ‘boring fights’, and ring boy stint…give this man some respect. Dude was a good man. Pushed the envelope more than some of ya’ll will ever do in your lifetime.
