  1. Tonon’s run through ONE has been great stuff. His last fight (the one that went to a decision) was against Matsushima and was a title eliminator–he should get the next crack at the current FW champ, Thanh Le, which is the most hype I am for any fight outside the UFC (now that Rumble/Romero is off the cards).

Thanh is an incredible striker who met Ryan Hall on TUF and has since then been training at 50/50 with him, and is a large part of Hall’s new repertoire of kicks. Hopefully the exchange has gone both ways: Tonon is a legendary leg-locker but if there’s anyone who could prepare you for that, it’s Ryan Hall.

  2. Holy shit that single leg to the leg lock. How the fuck do you even defend that lol. One second you’re limp legging the next your MCL is dust

  3. I don’t follow grappling/bjj competitions so I only know Tonons name from reading comments about him here on r/mma. It’s interesting how quickly he lets go of the sub when the other fighter taps rather than waits for the ref to stop it.

  4. Fuck i miss jits. Once covid hit I took a break and its over a year now.

So fun to lock in submissions and play that grueling back and forth game

  5. Something I noticed that’s different with him is when he’s grappling he’s just flowing with the opponent’s momentum without expending much energy until he’s in the position where he can actually finish. Only then does he really bite down and exert max effort. You really saw it with that guillotine. Most guys as soon as they get the neck they’re squeezing everything they got but he didn’t put any stink on it until he knew he had it in position. Super impressed with him so far and can’t wait to see his career play out.

Can you imagine that spider monkey of a man on your back with one arm trapped under his leg?
