  1. After the fight they were showing a clip of Jan kicking Izzy’s leg out from under him *in slow motion* and Joe said “look at that – checked there” without hesitation.

  2. This happened in the first woodley/Thompson fight. When you have an uneventful round that’s tit for tat; rogan assumes the person who is presumed to be more skilled in that area is inherently winning.

  3. One of two times in my life where i muted the commentary. First time was DC vs Stipe 3 because how hard they were riding DC’s dick in the second fight compelled me to mute the third one. And this one, because my friend showed me a post that Rogan had made on his dog Marshall instagram account where he told Izzy to go win the belt. After i saw that post i knew Joe’s biased ass was gonna ride Izzy’s dick during the fight and it turned out i was right.

Also the fact that Joe thought that Jan was an ex middleweight until Jan corrected him was so odd. He brought it up in the first fight on the prelims and NOBODY in the booth or the truck corrected him.

  4. My favourite was joe insisting Jan was being outstruck followed by replays of the previous round which are all highlights of Jan outstriking Izzy and then the official numbers pop up on the screen and jan’s up like 13 strikes

  5. Commentators did a terrible job all night tbh. Anik was ok, but joe and dc we’re so biased it was really annoying. They shit on Jan constantly and even after he won.

  6. It was some of the most biased commentary in recent memory. At one point Jan hit Izzy with a combo, briefly took him down, threatened with a rear naked choke and Joe said nothing; then when Izzy got up and hit Jan once as he was escaping Joe was like “Oh, that stung Jan! He’s in trouble!”

Jan repeatedly scored the harder shots and all the team were talking about was how much Izzy was using feints. I re-watched it and if I’m being generous I could give Izzy 2 rounds (1 and 3), but it’s murky and it could have been 4 – 1 to Jan. And either way there was a 10 – 8 round in there when Jan kept Izzy on the floor and stayed busy hitting him. He neutralized any offense Izzy had, controlled him while punching him and Izzy could only try to wriggle free. No attacks from the bottom.

  7. I watched fights alone because none of my friends like combats sports. I was sat alone thinking Yan was during really well, contrary to what the commentary were saying. I’m so glad everyone elses reaction was similar. I really feel like Rogan either needs to retire from commentating or the UFC use him less because hes really not good. It was summed up in the post fight when he went to ask Yan about fighting at 185lbs and Yan told him he never had a fight in that weight class. It was really embarrassing. Fucking up a prelims fighters fight record is bad, but not even spending the time to google search a main event fighters record who is the champion is just ridiculous. I think going forward i’m just going to watch with no sound.

  8. In DCs defense he seems to have given Jan the fight when he said “1st to izzy, 2nd to yan” cause he clearly thought Jan won the last 2. Joe just sucked

  9. Cracked me up that they couldn’t figure out how you get 49-45 without seeing the scorecards. I’m over here like “Jan won 4 rounds with one 10-8, not hard boys.”

  10. This was blatant enough that I think DC will address it. Joe of course will not unless a podcast guest presses the issue.

They really are some top notch commentators and I know mistakes happen but last night was atrocious. They really do have a profound effect on how fans see the fights. At times I thought I was going crazy or that my TV was lagging and the sound wasn’t synced up. Hopefully they take this as a lesson and this type of thing doesn’t happen in the future.

  11. Rogan has always loved a good hype train. Look at the way he’s talked about Ronda “once in a lifetime athlete” Rousey who he believed could beat male fighters in her weight class. Or how still defends Jones regarding steroids despite there being ample evidence he’s an intentional cheat. I don’t know if its Joe just being super alpha brained or if he’s just being a good company guy and pushing the more hyped fighter who in this case was definitely the undefeated champion as opposed to the champion who lost 4 of his first 6 fights in the UFC.

  12. After round 3 I think it was when they were showing the round highlights, and everything that jan was connecting joe was saying “No damage” “a knee here but again no damage” then Izzy lands a jab and joe goes “and a strong jab here from Izzy that stuns him”
