  1. Imagine being Aljo and knowing a title victory and an extra $100k is waiting for him if he can’t continue. Petr can’t be mad though. Should have been an immediate DQ.

  2. I think theres a middle ground between Sterling’s and Yan’s view of it. I don’t think Sterling was acting after the knee, and if he was he should switch professions to acting because he looked out. However he should realise that carrying the belt around to the post fight party, and calling out other contenders the next day, doesnt reflect that well on him especially after his comments and reaction immediately post fight.

  3. Henry Cejudo made a good point on his Twitter video, saying that Sterling’s behavior after the fight rubbed him the wrong way, and i agree with that view.

First things first, if there was any concern of a concussion, the UFC should never have let him do an interview. The already have a rule about no interviews for a KO’d fighter, so someone should have stepped in and stopped Sterling.

Then, even after getting the all-clear, it’s fine to celebrate (*even though he won the title without winning the fight*), but both him and his people shouldn’t be posting photos of it on social media. It just looks distasteful.

  4. The thing is, he can obviously celebrate the victory, but carrying and flaunting that belt that he didn’t really win – also, he threw that belt away remember? Setting the narrative that he didn’t want to win that way. Fucking with Yan by teasing a picture with Cejudo and calling out other fighters after that event with Yan. This is just shameless and scummy on his part. Not saying the knee was justified, still think it was unintentional and Yan was just in the heat of the moment, but I agree on the DQ.

As for Aljo, dude, just enjoy the victory, celebrate, don’t flaunt the belt that you didn’t recognize yourself, and move on and prepare for the rematch.

Instead he went on with the antics and clowned around that pissed off more and more people that are already pissed.

  5. Aljo would be better of staying off socials and keeping his head down for awhile. It’s smart to have taken the belt but he’s not winning himself any fans. He was clearly losing and it would only have gotten worse

  6. It’s just super ironic that in the lead up to this fight Aljo was constantly accusing Yan of being a paper champ.

Well, Aljo, you’re now undoubtedly the paper champ yet you’re trying to some how pretend that’s not true.

Put that thing in the closet, be happy with the pay bump for one fight and don’t bother pretending until you get another fight and you know actually win.

  7. At this point Aljo should just lean into it Chael Sonnen style. I know for a fact if Chael had won the belt off of Jon from him breaking his toe and paraded the belt around saying “Undisputed and Undefeated” we would all be loving it.

  8. I wouldn’t mind if he just owned up to it and was like “fuck yeah I won off a technicality, I’m the fuckin champ now bitches” but instead he acted all “I don’t want the belt like this” then turns around and flaunts it at a party which is fake as fuck

  9. Aljo celebrating cuz he knows he’s not gonna be the champ for long. Can’t wait to see him get knocked out the right way. He’s probably gonna make up some bs and make yan wait longer than he should for the rematch.

  10. I really like Aljo, but he is a bum for this. There should be zero photos of him with that belt. It’s a bad look. And his response is annoying too. There’s some middle ground between hiding in your closet at posing like you earned the championship.

Hope he gets smashed in a rematch.

  11. I agree with his DQ win and his business decision, but celebrating on social media is a very bad look.

Ive watched thousands of UFC fights and thats not how someone who gets KOed reacts. Moaning and groaning, slipping around trying to get up, cartoon eyes for 5 minutes? Get that title fight money man! But why make yourself look like a fool on twitter afterwards? Again I agree Yan should get DQed and its a good decision to take the win, celebrating on twitter is a bad, bad look

  12. Wasn’t it weird that he couldn’t even get off his back or turn to the side, and the second the fight was called he immediately gets to his knees? Give the man an Oscar, but not a belt.

  13. Yeah, he is right. You should not have celebrated with the belt hanging around your shoulder that you didn’t earn.

If you were questioning if it was an act, now you have your answer. The fight obviously shouldn’t have continued, this shouldn’t have been up to Aljo in the first place, but he should just have said:”Fuck that guy. I’m not going back into the fight compromised from a ridiculous cheap shot like that, even if I’m not concussed. Imma take this paper title and PPV money because he fucked up and we can have our rematch in 3-4 months to do it right this time.”

Obviously he was hurt, obviously the fight should have been called, but he milked it for all it’s worth and put on a bigger show in the interview after the fight, than he did in the octagon.

…now I find myself rooting for the villain. Yan, go smesh this guy.

  14. The knee to the head was brutal, and he absolutely deserved the DQ win, but i have seen hundreds of KOs, and I have never seen someone roll around on the ground for 30 seconds, wait for the doctor stoppage, then head right for the interview. Can anybody point to a KO where the fighter rolled around after the KO for 30 seconds like Aljermain did? I think that Aljermain was hurt by the knee, knew it was well within his right to take the DQ, but didn’t want to seem like a pussy if he got up and claimed the belt coherently, so he flopped for the doctor stoppage.
